Creating fake problems

Have you noticed how we (humans) tend to create these fake problems in our lives?

We seem to create these problems, that don’t actually exist, and then give them this high importance to get done. A lot of times they have no solutions, they are just problems for us to focus on.

We use them to take our minds off of the serious problems — the ones that actually require our efforts.

Sometimes it isn’t even just taking our mind off of a problem, but it distracts us from people, from emotion, from situations that we just aren’t happy with.

I started getting in a lot of trouble in middle school, things that I am not proud of.

Eventually I was able to realize that I got in trouble because I was trying to distract myself from my real problem; depression.

As adults, we can’t just go get in trouble to create a problem that distracts us from our emotions or the real problem, but we can create a convenient problem that has a fake or easy solution. And hey, since we are taking actions on a problem things must be getting better, right?

Denying reality won’t make it go away.
